Founder & Medical Director, Board-Certified Psychiatrist

Wendy J. Hookman, MD, is a respected double board-certified psychiatrist and the visionary Founder of WCWCW with licensing in MD and FL.

Dr. Hookman is a reproductive psychiatrist specializing in women's mood and anxiety disorders, with expertise in perimenopause, menopause, pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, menstrual cycle, weight loss management, and sexual health. She believes that meaningful improvement is almost always possible and that treatment is not limited to medication alone.

Using a holistic and individualized approach, Dr. Hookman considers each patient's history, lifestyle, relationships, and current circumstances when developing personalized treatment plans. She is committed to providing inclusive, respectful care to individuals of all backgrounds.

She values building strong therapeutic relationships and supporting patients not only in stabilizing symptoms, but also in achieving personal, relational, and professional well-being.

After growing up in the Greater Washington, DC area and completing her training in New York City, Dr. Hookman returned home to establish a premier psychiatric center for women and children. What began in 2003 as a small, rented office has grown into a 7,000-square-foot practice with a multidisciplinary team, offering individual therapy, group services, play therapy, and wellness spaces. WCWCW now serves patients locally and globally through clinical care and educational outreach.

Dr. Hookman earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed psychiatry training at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. She previously served as Director of the Women's Mood Disorders Program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and remains active in medical education, including teaching roles at Georgetown University and The George Washington University School of Medicine.
